Our most remote and technically demanding Indian expedition. 20 days charting the sacred and restricted eastern frontiers of India: from the mystical Tibetan borderlands of Arunachal Pradesh and the forbidden Mechuka Valley to the 5,430m frozen shores of Gurudongmar Lake and historic Nathu La in Sikkim.

Expedition brief
The Eastern Himalayan Expedition is the crowning jewel of remote adventure motorcycling in Asia. Designed for experienced riders who demand extreme terrain, zero tourist crowds, and profound cultural depth, this 20-day odyssey penetrates the restricted border corridors of Arunachal Pradesh and North Sikkim.
Phase I takes the convoy deep into the misty interior of Arunachal Pradesh: conquering Sela Pass (4,170m), exploring the 17th-century Tawang Monastery, navigating the ancient bamboo groves of the Apatani tribe in Ziro, and riding the raw Siang river gorges into the isolated Mechuka Valley just 29 km from the Tibetan line.
Phase II crosses the mighty Brahmaputra River by ferry into Sikkim, ascending into the high-altitude realm of North Sikkim. Here riders face the ultimate altitude test at Gurudongmar Lake (5,430m)—one of the highest alpine lakes on Earth—before carving through the rhododendron forests of Yumthang Valley and ascending the historic Silk Route trade pass at Nathu La (4,310m).

Day-by-day itinerary
- Day01
Gather at Guwahati, the historic gateway to Northeast India. Following the morning expedition briefing and bike allocations (Himalayan 450 / Adventure fleet), the convoy rolls northeast parallel to the Brahmaputra.
We cross from the lush plains of Assam into the foothills of Arunachal Pradesh at Bhalukpong, clearing our first Inner Line Permit (ILP) checkpoint before settling by the Jia Bhoroli river in Nameri.

- Operated on modern adventure platforms (Himalayan 450 / adventure fleet setup).
- Lightweight, punchy liquid-cooled Sherpa power, long-travel Showa suspension, and 21-inch front wheel make it the ideal weapon for Arunachal mud and 5,400m thin air.
- Each machine is fitted with heavy-duty engine guards, handguards, and all-terrain dual-sport rubber.
Acclimatization & High Altitude Protocol
- Staged Ascent: Built-in multi-night valley rests (Leh, Manali) to allow full biological adaptation prior to 5,300m passes.
- Daily Oximetry: Pulse oximeter check each morning before kickstands up.
- Medical Oxygen in Chase 4x4: Medical-grade oxygen cylinders and trauma kit on board our dedicated chase vehicle at all times.
- Hydration Guidance: Electrolyte hydration stops scheduled every 90 minutes across arid high passes.

Rider requirements
- •Valid motorcycle driving licence plus International Driving Permit (IDP).
